India Lost Test Series Against South Africa - What to Learn?

India after losing one day series in South Africa has now also lost the test series against the South African team. Losing the second test match in South Africa was really a very bad thing for the Indian cricket team as Indians had really toiled very hard in the test series. After losing the test series against the South African team, India have to learn a lot. In this post I am going to mainly tell the reasons for India's lost against South Africa and what Indian team need to learn after the lost in the test series.

India's openers have failed in South Africa. Both Dhawan and Murali Vijay seemed to have good technique but then too they didn't succeed much against the South African fast bowlers. Dhawan got out mainly giving catch in the slip area and that's why he needs to improve on this.

Pujara seemed to the best batsman for India in the test series in South Africa. Even if Pujara hit 32 runs only in the second innings of the second test match, he seemed to the best batsman when it comes to technique. Having proper technique is very important when it comes to playing test cricket specially outside India in countries in South Africa.

The worst thing according to me in South Africa has been the failure of Rohit Sharma. After the good success against Australians, it seemed that Rohit Sharma has made a new beginning and definitely the fans of Indian cricket team started hoping a lot from Rohit Sharma. In this series Rohit Sharma seemed to struggle a lot against the fast bowlers. In an innings he got bowled out because he misjudged the delivery from Dale Steyn.

One of the best things which has happened in South Africa is the performance of Ajinkya Rahane. Expectations from Ajinkya Rahane was not much but he has proved to be a batsman who can really take place of VVS Laxman. It may be early to say this but seeing the technique and performance most of the past cricketers would agree that Ajinkya Rahane is definitely going to have a long run in the Indian test team. Ajinkya Rahane hit 96 runs in the second innings of second test match. Ajinkya Rahane really toiled hard so that he can make the match draw but while hitting a shot on 96 runs, he got bowled to a good delivery of Philander.

Mahendra Singh Dhoni has always been well known for saving the cricket team from downfall of wickets but in South Africa he too seemed to not succeed much. Dhoni really needs to improve his game when it comes to playing in countries out of India. In the second innings of second test match against South Africa, Dhoni got out giving a catch on the leg side to a delivery bowled by Robin Peterson.

In this test series, Zaheer Khan made the comeback into the Indian cricket team but he seemed no good in the second test match. Zaheer Khan bowled at a speed which didn't cause any harm to the South African cricket team. Zaheer's performance was decent in the first test match but in the second test match which India lost, it seemed that Zaheer was too tired. Ravindra Jadeja proved to be really a good spin bowler as he took good number of wickets. Shami seemed to be decent but Ishant Sharma still needs to learn a lot. India definitely needs a fast bowler like Dale Steyn.

Dale Steyn took 9 wickets in the match and also did well with the bat. Dale Steyn was given Man of the Match and he really proved that why he is the best fast bowler in the World.

India may have lost the test series against the South African team but definitely both batsman and bowlers need to learn from this tour. Even if the defeat can't be accepted, one can be positive that India has the right test team which will definitely keep on improving with more experience.
