India Lost Second ODI : Why India Failing in Africa?

In the Second ODI match, it was South Africa who batted first. Again it seemed impossible for the Indian bowlers to get wicket of De Kock and Amla as they both hit century in this match. It seemed that South African openers really have the technique to play on South African grounds or the Indian bowlers still need to learn.

Quinton De Kock is only 20 years old and has shown that how superb opening batsman he is for the South African team. Quinton De Kock has hit century in both the matches in this 2013 ODI series against India and proved that he is someone who loves to play long innings.

Due to good bowling again by the same Indian bowler Shami, India were able to restrict South African team to 280 runs. If there was no Shami in the Indian team then the score in the second ODI too would have gone above 300 runs. It seems India for now only has one good fast bowler and all other Indian fast bowlers need to learn from Shami. It is the speed and the habit to pitch the ball at the right spots which has been giving Shami wickets regularly.

South African team is able to succeed because of its opening pair. South African openers have shown their good performance in both the ODI matches against India. It is the opening pair of India who have failed in both the matches. This time the batting can be said to be even worst as India lost their first 4 crucial wickets only at 38 runs. Once India lost their 4 wickets, it was very much clear that winning the second ODI match is impossible for India.

If Indian openers learn to tackle the fast bowling and even if they score less runs in the first 10 overs, then too India will have a chance to survive but Indian batsman are totally unable to play the top African fast bowlers. The top scorer for India in the second ODI was Suresh Raina and that too only 36 runs which showed how badly Indian batsman have been playing against the African fast bowlers.

India have lost the ODI series now and Indian young players like Dhawan, Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Umesh Yadav etc need to learn so that they can come out with some good performance in the last ODI. It is necessary that Indian bowlers should learn where to bowl and how to bowl. Even Indian batsman should learn to play extreme fast bowling in South Africa. If the batsman will always get failed then we cannot always say that the bowlers went wrong.
